The way we eat defines our personality

Do you think the way we eat defines our personality? Maybe that’s the case, or at least that’s what Juliet A. Boghossian assures us through an experience that our personality is expressed at the table.

This experience uncovered different personality models, depending on the way people behave when they eat. Whether they savor every food or not, if they eat in a hurry, if they choose carefully what they are going to eat, whether or not they mix various ingredients… Find out who is your model!

The link between our way of eating and our personality

The aforementioned experiment, carried out by the Food-Ology company, attempted to answer the question of whether the way we eat defines our personality. This Californian company is responsible for studying the link between eating habits, personality traits and behavioral trends.

The founder of Food-Ology , Juliet A. Boghossian, expert in food behavior, led the experiment. She has thus shown that there are certain personality models that present specific characteristics when it comes to eating.

People who eat and savor

According to experience, people who eat without hurry, who taste and chew all food correctly,  are self-confident people, who know how to appreciate life. This calm when it comes to eating is also reflected in their lives through self-control and personal safety behaviors.

People who eat in a hurry

Those who gulp down their meal at full speed, without chewing, are people used to doing many things at the same time. In their relationships, these people tend to put the interests of others before their own. On the other hand, they need their own space.

People who sort food

People who pre-sort food, whether by color, size or origin, usually look for order and neatness. They yearn for a quiet life. At work, they are very organized, but not very decisive in the face of unforeseen and stressful situations.

People who love adventure

In food, adventurers are the people who dare to try new dishes and ingredients. They are usually extroverted people who like to take risks.

They are never boring and often appeal to everyone. In addition, they do not appreciate isolation and need to have people around them all the time.

Introverts

On the other hand, according to experience, the most introverted people in their life are those who tend to eat the same thing over and over again. They do not mix the food or the ingredients very much. In addition, they are analytical and detail-oriented people.

People who like mixtures

People who mix multiple ingredients and foods at the same time have strong, friendly and very responsible personalities. This is what experience reveals. However, at work, they lack a bit of practicality when it comes to prioritizing tasks.

The carefree personality

People with a more ‘carefree’ personality are those who eat with their mouths open and make a lot of noise while chewing. They don’t really care what other people think of them.

In this sense, they have a rather frank and direct profile which does not necessarily please everyone. This reckless behavior is said to be reflected in diet and other areas of their life.

People who plan

The experiment also revealed that personalities whose tendency is to plan everything, carefully cut and prepare their food before starting to eat. They are also people who “live more in the future” than in the present. They find it difficult to focus on the present moment and enjoy it.

The curious “nit-pickers”

Picky eaters are those who need to know everything about what they are going to eat. These are very curious people. However, despite this curiosity,  they grow up in their comfort zone  and take very few risks.

People who always eat the same thing

People who usually eat the same thing, food after food, without mixing, are often analytical, methodical and with an eye for detail. They can, in some cases, border on mental rigidity.

The way we eat defines us

In fact, our personality is reflected in most of our daily actions, including the way we eat. Of course, our moods change every day and we don’t always eat the same way.

Nevertheless, as the study reveals, there are certain personality traits that predispose us, most of the time, to act one way or another. This is the case when we eat.

Did you recognize yourself in a model? Have you ever wondered if the way you eat reveals the way you are?
